LINDSAY is a publishing imprint focused on stories about place—with an interest in art, culture and nature, celebrating traditional knowledge and craftsmanship alongside contemporary practice. It launched in 2017 as an independent magazine that published cultural storytelling from an international contributor list. It is currently focused on making and publishing books and collaborating on other creative projects.
LINDSAY is founded by Beth Wilkinson, a graphic designer and editor based in Naarm/Melbourne who works on creative projects internationally through Beth Wilkinson Studio and teaches at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in the School of Design.

LINDSAY is named after Beth’s grandfather—Lindsay James Stanger—a self-taught photographer, keen traveller and National Geographic subscriber who had a genuine interest in other peoples’ stories and quiet but innate talent for documenting the places he visited. Beth inherited those cameras and soon after discovered her own connection to the beauty in the image. You can read about Lindsay’s life in Issue No. 5.
LINDSAY’s publications have been sold in museum stores, bookshops and concept spaces in over 30 countries, including the MOMA PS1 (New York), The Whitney (New York), Gucci Garden (Florence), Yvon Lambert (Paris), Tate Modern (London), Daikanyama T-Site (Tokyo), McNally Jackson (New York), and National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne). It has hosted book launches, talks, parties and cinema screenings for its readers at places like Maryam Nassir Zadeh (New York), McNally Jackson (New York), Heide Museum of Modern Art (Melbourne) and the Hotel Windsor (Melbourne).
Beth Wilkinson has spoken about her role as a publisher at New York publishing symposium ModMag, on panels at the National Gallery of Victoria, and on air via ABC National and Monocle 24. She has written for The Saturday Paper and NGV Magazine, guest curated tables of her favourite magazines for Tokyo’s Daikanyama T-Site and been profiled in Popeye (Tokyo) and British Journal of Photography (London).
LINDSAY works with collaborators around the globe from the seventh floor of the Nicholas Building in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.
We acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we create. We respect their Ancestors and Elders who have told stories for millennia and honour the wisdom they hold through generations of lived connection to this place.
